I’m writing to express my alarm at the dangerous agenda laid out in Project 2025, and the disturbing parallels it shares with the early rise of the Nazi Party in Germany. While I do not equate today’s leaders with Adolf Hitler, the patterns of authoritarian consolidation, propaganda, and persecution are undeniable. I urge you to take a principled stand against this agenda before history repeats itself. Donald Trump has already enacted or embraced many Project 2025 policies. Here are just a few troubling comparisons: 1. Purging Public Servants Trump attempted to implement Schedule F, allowing him to fire thousands of nonpartisan federal workers and replace them with political loyalists. Project 2025 pushes this further. This is eerily similar to Hitler’s 1933 law that removed Jews and dissidents from public service—both aimed at erasing dissent and consolidating absolute control. 2. Undermining the Free Press Trump’s labeling of the media as the “enemy of the people” parallels the Nazi use of the term Lügenpresse to delegitimize independent journalism. Project 2025 proposes tighter executive control over federal media, threatening the foundational role of a free and independent press. 3. State-Sanctioned Violence Trump incited the January 6 attack and later promised pardons to those involved. Like the Nazi use of the Brownshirts to intimidate political opponents, this is about silencing opposition through fear and force. Project 2025 does nothing to curb this trend—in fact, it enables it. 4. Targeting Minorities and Marginalized Groups Project 2025 seeks to eliminate LGBTQ+ protections, roll back women’s rights, and enforce a rigid religious morality. Hitler’s regime similarly began with the persecution of queer people, restrictions on women, and appeals to “traditional values.” These policies are not just morally wrong—they are historically dangerous. 5. Eroding Democracy From Within The Nazi regime was established legally—through laws, executive actions, and propaganda. Trump and his allies are following a similar path: undermining elections, spreading lies, and rewriting rules. Legality does not equal legitimacy. You were elected to serve the Constitution—not a political movement obsessed with control. I ask you to publicly reject Project 2025 and the authoritarian direction it represents. The tools of democracy should never be used to dismantle democracy. History has already shown us where this leads. Will you help prevent it from happening again?
