I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent regarding the conduct of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and your continued failure, as my elected representative, to uphold your oath to the Constitution by allowing these actions to continue unchecked. There are growing reports and firsthand accounts of ICE agents stopping, detaining, and apprehending individuals in public spaces without warrants, probable cause, or meaningful due process. In some cases, American citizens have been detained or targeted. These actions are not merely aggressive enforcement—they represent clear violations of the Fourth and Fifth Amendments, which protect against unreasonable seizure and guarantee due process of law. By permitting federal agents to detain people without proper legal justification, Congress is allowing constitutional protections to be treated as optional. Your oath of office was not to a political party or an administration, but to the Constitution itself. Continued inaction in the face of these abuses represents a failure of that oath and a failure of the duties entrusted to your office. When Americans can be stopped on the street, questioned, or detained without a warrant or judicial oversight, it erodes the rule of law and creates fear not only in immigrant communities, but among citizens who expect their constitutional rights to be protected. This is not how a free society operates, and it is not consistent with the principles Congress is sworn to defend. Your silence and inaction have consequences. Allowing illegal apprehensions to continue normalizes constitutional violations and signals that federal agencies may operate without accountability. That precedent is dangerous, regardless of which administration is in power. I urge you to take immediate action to: Publicly condemn unconstitutional ICE enforcement practices. Demand full transparency and accountability regarding the detention of U.S. citizens and lawful residents. Support and pursue robust congressional oversight, including hearings and enforcement measures, to ensure ICE operates strictly within constitutional limits. Reaffirm, through action, your oath to defend the Constitution and the rights of the people you represent. The Constitution is not self-enforcing. It relies on members of Congress to defend it. I expect you to honor your oath and fulfill the responsibilities of your office before further harm is done.
