I need the congressman to oppose strongly both Interstate Obscenity Definition Act and the Kids Online Safety Act. While the language of these bills insinuate that this is for the safety of children, the content that it would censor only affects adults. Furthermore, the language is so nebulous that it would also eliminate classical art (like Renaissance paintings and Grecian statues). If the true goal of keeping children safe online was at stake, Congress would simply urge companies to have a more robust system option setting for parental controls that people can toggle on, not a broad ban on what constitutes "art" or "obscene". This is a blatant attack on the first amendment rights of all citizens.
It is already legal precedent that online activity of children should be and is the responsibility of parents. The websites themselves are not responsible for the activity of their users. Thank you.
