Sanction Russian Banks, Halt Ukraine Invasion Funding
To: Rep. Jayapal
From: A constituent in Seattle, WA
July 28
The Preserving Economic Ability to Confront Enemies (PEACE) Act of 2025 (H.R. 4346) must be enacted to disrupt Russia's ability to finance its unjust war in Ukraine. Granting the Treasury Department authority to impose sanctions on foreign banks enabling Russia's military aggression would strike a significant blow against the Kremlin's war machine under this bill. This measure, targeting the financial lifelines propping up Putin's regime, is a critical step towards holding Russia accountable for its flagrant violations of international law and human rights abuses. By cutting off access to the global financial system, we can cripple Russia's capacity to fund its unconscionable invasion and military atrocities. Preserving Ukraine's sovereignty and restoring peace requires employing all economic levers at our disposal. Empower the Treasury to sanction complicit foreign banks and strangle the resources fueling this senseless conflict through the PEACE Act of 2025.
