Protect our public lands

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding recent actions taken to weaken protections for our nation's public lands. As your constituent and a citizen who values our natural heritage, I strongly oppose measures that would open these treasured landscapes to increased mining, drilling, and logging operations. Our public lands represent more than just resources to be extracted—they are irreplaceable parts of our national identity, crucial wildlife habitats, and sources of clean water and air. They provide spaces for recreation, reflection, and connection with nature that benefit millions of Americans, including many in our district. Every year, my family and I take a summer vacation to our national lands. These trips have become the absolute best part of my year—moments of profound awe as we discover the natural beauty of our world and deep bonding as we challenge ourselves to hike trails we once thought impossible. I welcomed my daughter into the world this year, and I cannot wait to introduce her to these treasured parks and landscapes. Preserving these lands isn't just an environmental issue for me—it's about ensuring that my daughter and future generations can experience the same wonder and connection to nature that has enriched my family's life. I am particularly concerned about recent decisions to remove federal employees tasked with land management and the rollback of environmental protections that have safeguarded these areas for generations. These actions threaten to permanently damage ecosystems that have taken centuries to develop and could deprive future generations of the natural wonders we currently enjoy. While I understand the importance of responsible economic development, I believe that the long-term value of intact, healthy public lands far outweighs the short-term profits of resource extraction. Our public lands provide sustainable economic benefits through tourism, recreation, and ecosystem services that would be jeopardized by excessive industrial use. I respectfully urge you to: 1. Oppose any legislation that weakens protections for public lands or expedites resource extraction without proper environmental review 2. Support funding for federal land management agencies to ensure they can fulfill their mission 3. Champion new designations that would permanently protect vulnerable public lands 4. Advocate for meaningful public input in decisions affecting our shared natural resources Thank you for your consideration of this important matter. I would appreciate knowing your position on protecting our public lands and what actions you plan to take to ensure their preservation.
