Pass Strong Consumer Privacy Protection Legislation in New York

To: Gov. Hochul, Assembly Member Woerner, Sen. Tedisco

From: A verified voter in Ballston Spa, NY

October 24

Pass strong consumer privacy protection legislation in New York. Every day, companies collect, sell, and profit from New Yorkers' personal data without meaningful consent or transparency. That has to stop. New Yorkers should have the right to know what data is being collected about them, the right to say no to its sale, and the right to have it deleted. Other states have already acted. New York is overdue for a law with real teeth, one that gives residents enforceable rights and holds corporations to clear standards. A weak, industry-friendly bill won't cut it.
