**Oppose ICE Enforcement Operations in Ohio Communities** I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to protect Ohio residents from aggressive federal immigration enforcement operations, particularly the anticipated 30-day operation in Springfield that may begin after Temporary Protected Status expires for Haitians. According to Springfield City School District Superintendent Bob Hill, state leadership briefed school officials on a potential federal enforcement initiative targeting individuals on a removal list, with discretion to detain others encountered who lack lawful status.
The legal situation remains unresolved. A federal judge recently ruled that ending TPS was unlawful and blocked the early termination, with multiple lawsuits still ongoing. The Department of Homeland Security had announced termination for September 2, 2025, yet people with TPS are currently in the country legally and able to work. Aggressive enforcement while legal challenges proceed undermines due process and creates chaos for families who followed the rules.
I ask you to publicly oppose ICE enforcement operations in Springfield and throughout Ohio, particularly near schools. Use your position to demand that federal authorities respect ongoing legal proceedings and allow Haitian residents to pursue their immigration cases without fear. Advocate for policies that keep families together and protect the safety and stability of our communities. Ohio residents deserve leadership that prioritizes their wellbeing over political posturing.
