Congress should not cut vital programs like Medicaid and SNAP that provide healthcare and food assistance to West Virginians. Proposed cuts would force 40,000 residents to lose Medicaid coverage and 28,000 families to lose SNAP benefits. This would strain the state's hospitals, which rely on Medicaid reimbursements, as well as local grocery stores that depend on SNAP for revenue. Work requirements have proven ineffective at increasing employment yet cause many to lose benefits due to bureaucratic hurdles. While tax cuts may grow the economy through investment, they primarily benefit the wealthy rather than low-income families. Stripping West Virginians of their healthcare and food access to pay for tax breaks is unacceptable. I urge you to vote against these detrimental cuts that would harm our most vulnerable citizens and communities.
