It’s become clear that ICE and other federal agencies are using facial recognition, cellphone hacking, and data tracking to target, track, and spy on civilians and law abiding citizens. The government, which is OSTENSIBLY “for the People, of the People, and by the People” is using corporations like Palantir to track and surveil American citizens for expressing their First Amendment rights. Congress should do a full and transparent inquiry to let the People know how the state is tracking and monitoring them. In a democratic republic it would be helpful for citizens to truly understand how close we are to a Police State under Trump’s second term, especially given that paramilitary and military forces are now being deployed to intimidate law abiding American citizens.
