This is to state my strong opposition to any cuts in funding for NPR and PBS.
I have listened and watched their programs my entire life, and continue lifelong learning each day. I cannot think of a better use for MY tax dollars!
Public broadcasting provides the public with immediate announcements of impending weather or other disasters and emergencies, such as tornados, hurricanes, flooding, and wildfires. As you know, Texas has regular occurrences of all four.
In addition, they provide regular testing of the emergency alert system. If there ever is a nuclear bomb, I would trust their warning more than anyone elses.
Public radio and television provide a fresh, fair-minded view of current events, often within historical context.
Last but not least, PBS and NPR are outward examples of free speech. They should not be defunded.
