Revoke DOGE's access to secure citizens' private data
To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

February 4, 2025
It is deeply concerning that the Treasury Department has granted Elon Musk and his team from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) access to the federal payment system that handles trillions of dollars in government expenditures. This payment system contains sensitive personal information of hundreds of millions of Americans, including Social Security numbers, tax data, bank account details, home addresses, and more. Providing an unelected billionaire with potential conflicts of interest access to this vast trove of personal data poses serious risks to Americans' privacy and financial security. There are legitimate fears that this data could be exploited for political purposes or fall into the wrong hands. The public deserves transparency about why this access was granted and what safeguards are in place to protect our private information. Strict oversight is needed to ensure this powerful system is not misused or compromised. Citizens' personal and financial data must be given the highest level of protection from undue exposure or mishandling. I urge you to investigate this matter thoroughly and take immediate steps to revoke DOGE's access if it cannot be fully secured and justified as absolutely essential.
