I am writing to express deep concern over the continued detention and denial of necessary medical care for Andrea Pedro-Francisco, a young asylum seeker with no criminal record who urgently requires surgery for a painful ovarian cyst. Multiple independent doctors have confirmed her diagnosis and recommended surgical treatment, yet she remains in detention without adequate care while her condition worsens. No person should be forced to suffer untreated medical pain while awaiting the outcome of a legal asylum case. I urge immediate humanitarian intervention, appropriate medical treatment, and a full review of her detention status. Human dignity and basic medical ethics must not be ignored.
