Stop Anti-LGBTQ+ Platform Planks From Becoming Law

To: Rep. Andrews, Gov. Whitmer, Sen. Nesbitt

From: A verified voter in Stevensville, MI

June 25

You must stop these policies from becoming law. Across the country, state Republican parties are adopting platform planks that would ban transgender people from teaching, criminalize parents of trans children, strip legal adults aged 18–25 of access to medical and mental health care, and allow businesses to openly discriminate against LGBTQ+ people. This is not a fringe wish list — we have already watched platform planks become law in multiple states, and the next legislative sessions are the next opportunity to push more through. Some of these proposals would prosecute parents under child abuse statutes for supporting their own children. Others would strip gender-affirming care from adults who can vote, sign contracts, and serve in the military. These provisions do not protect anyone. They target a vulnerable population and use the law as a weapon against families. Speak out against these platforms publicly and use every procedural and legislative tool available to block them from advancing. Your constituents are watching, and silence is not an option.
