Russell Vought's nomination to lead the Office of Management and Budget must be rejected. The funding freeze memo issued by OMB on Monday infringes on Congress' constitutional power of the purse and plunges the nation into chaos. This unilateral move by the White House halts billions, potentially trillions, in federal assistance to states, cities, schools, hospitals, small businesses and American families. Such an unconstitutional overreach cannot be rewarded with confirming Vought as OMB director. His willingness to unlawfully cut off lawfully appropriated funds demonstrates he lacks the judgment and respect for separation of powers required for this position. Vought's confirmation vote must be postponed until the administration backs off this destructive funding freeze that is wreaking havoc across the country. Confirming him now would enable further erosion of Congress' power of the purse and constitutional crisis. I urge you to vote no on Vought's nomination.
