I am writing to express my grave concern regarding the current direction of U.S. foreign policy. Specifically, I am alarmed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s recent comments suggesting a "reexamination" of our commitment to NATO.
Our national security relies on the stability of our alliances and the checks and balances defined by our Founders. Abandoning NATO is not a strategic move; it is a dangerous step toward isolation that leaves our country and our economy vulnerable.
Furthermore, I expect my representatives to uphold the Constitution’s clear mandate that only Congress has the power to declare war. Supporting the War Powers Resolution is a legal and ethical duty to the voters you represent. Congress must not abdicate its responsibility to provide oversight on matters of war and peace, regardless of which administration is in power.
I am paying close attention to how my representatives vote on these critical issues. I expect you to stand up for the NATO alliance and reclaim congressional authority over military action. Our security depends on leaders who prioritize the Constitution over political convenience.
