I heard Mike Johnson touting the new restrictions on SNAP benefits in the Big Ugly Bill saying that there are tightened work requirements for SNAP beneficiaries. It seems obvious to me that employers should be paying their employees enough to eat! We should be putting requirements on businesses to pay living wages! We are subsidizing corporations like Walmart, who don’t pay workers a living wage, by feeding, housing and providing benefits for even full time workers at government expense. These people work hard and should be able to afford a decent life. Living wages for all!
