Reject undemocratic limits on judicial authority in budget bill

To: Sen. Wicker, Sen. Hyde-Smith, Rep. Thompson

From: A verified voter in Canton, MS

June 1

This sweeping budget bill contains troubling provisions that undermine checks and balances on government power. Section 70302 in particular raises significant concerns by limiting the judiciary's authority to hold executive branch employees in contempt of court. Such measures threaten the system of checks and balances that is foundational to our democratic system. Consolidating power in the executive branch without accountability erodes key principles of democratic governance. As an elected representative, you should fight to remove this undemocratic section that diminishes judicial oversight from the final legislation. As your constituent, I urge you to vote no and do not pass this legislation. Our big beautiful nation is a democratic government for the people, by the people -- and her citizens are counting on you to keep it that way. Respectfully,
