Rectify unlawful deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador

To: Sen. Kelly, Rep. Crane, Sen. Gallego

From: A constituent in Kearny, AZ

April 2

I'm writing to express my serious concern over the reported deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man with legal protections against removal to El Salvador. According to court filings, the government deported Mr. Abrego Garcia by mistake, despite being aware of his "withholding of removal" status granted due to credible threats he would face in El Salvador. This appears to be a clear violation of U.S. immigration laws and deportation procedures. Mr. Abrego Garcia has lived in the United States since 2011, has no criminal record, works full-time to support his U.S. citizen wife and disabled child, and was deported without due process after being wrongfully labeled a gang member. He now languishes in a Salvadoran megaprison under harsh conditions. I urge you to take immediate action to rectify this alarming error and uphold the rule of law. The U.S. government must work swiftly to secure Mr. Abrego Garcia's release and safe return from El Salvador. Allowing such unlawful deportations to stand uncorrected undermines our laws and democratic values. I respectfully request you use all lawful means at your disposal to bring Mr. Abrego Garcia home to his family in Maryland.
