I am writing you to suggest that the Illinois legislature, or the state board of education, take up a similar mandate to Texas require district office administrators be required to substitute a minimum number of days within the classroom. As is often the case, administrators have background of teaching, but rarely return to the students, instead making decisions that deeply impact the classroom without ever setting foot in one again. I think this would go a long way to create more community within the school districts by helping to inform administration on the decisions they make and giving them more visibility to the students and staff they administer.
