Oppose the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act! Please!

To: Sen. Kim, Rep. Gottheimer, Sen. Booker

From: A verified voter in Glen Rock, NJ

October 7

I am writing to you to ask you to oppose H.R.3297 and S.1671: the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act. Not only does this act infringe upon the first amendment, but it is a blatant attempt to categorize anything the government deems as undesirable to be obscene. This act could very easily categorize the depiction of gay and trans people existing and living their normal lives as “perverted sexual acts.” And it makes me fear for the safety and continued denigration of the rights of the queer community. It also sneakily removes a line of text from the Telecommunications Act of 1934. Making any communication deemed by the government to be a loosely defined “obscene” to be illegal across state lines or in the District of Colombia. I implore you to oppose this act and fight for the rights of ALL Americans that will be infringed upon if this act comes to pass. Thank you.
