Paxton Is Suing Over Underwear. Texas Deserves Better!

To: Gov. Abbott, Sen. Zaffirini, Lt. Gov. Patrick, Rep. Flores

From: A verified voter in Austin, TX

February 26

Ken Paxton just sued a New York company for selling compression undergarments. Not weapons. Not drugs. Undergarments. The company, Lola Olivia, Inc., sells chest binders, compression garments worn by people who want to flatten their upper bodies. Paxton is asking a court for over $1 million in penalties and a restraining order to stop them from selling their products to Texans. This is the same Ken Paxton who was impeached by the Texas House in 2023 on charges of bribery, abuse of office, and obstruction of justice. The same Paxton who was under FBI investigation for years. Texas has real problems that need a real attorney general. Human trafficking. Fentanyl. Insurance fraud targeting disaster survivors. The Camp Mystic families who lost children in last July’s flood are still fighting for accountability. Instead of pursuing any of that, Paxton is spending taxpayer money to regulate undergarments. Whatever your politics, this should concern you. The government deciding what clothing is acceptable, who can sell it, and who can wear it is not conservative governance. It’s government overreach into the most personal corners of private life. I’m asking you to publicly oppose the use of the AG’s office as a political prop. Demand that Paxton produce a public accounting of how much this lawsuit is costing Texas taxpayers. And push for legislative oversight of the AG’s office to ensure its resources are used to protect vulnerable Texans, not to generate headlines.
