Please oppose S. 5653, the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act, in its current form. Grid reform shouldn’t come at the cost of our public lands, clean water, and communities’ right to be heard. Tribal consultation and historic preservation must not be rolled back; unlawful permits should not be allowed (“project certainty”); taxpayers should not be paying developers; unlawful projects must be stopped by the courts; the National Environmental Policy Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act but not be cut; and, please, no giveaways of public lands to mining and drilling companies.
