I am writing to you regarding the recent NATIONAL SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL MEMORANDUM/NSPM-7. The language in this memorandum is overly broad, and I feel opens the door for as-you-like implementation against any group the current party in power deems "anti American". Truly what is more American than resisting authoritarianism? Truly what is more American than embracing a wide spectrum of views and inviting debate? This security memo only goes to show that the current administration would rather whip the populace up into a frenzy of fear and hating their neighbor, rather than push for any semblance of unity or civility. Broadly describing any individual or institution that does not blindly agree with their agenda as ‘domestic terrorists’ and encouraging federal agencies to do something about them is at the least un-American in it’s own right, and at the most it is a clear stepping stone to allowing federal agencies to pick political opponents and their supporters off the streets. Please speak on my behalf as my representative, and let President Trump know that simply labeling all of his opponents as domestic terrorists will not silence them, and if anything is inviting more violence. This memorandum concerns me deeply, and it should concern you as well.
