The proposed measure to bar transgender individuals like Representative-elect Sarah McBride from using restrooms that align with their gender identity is discriminatory and promotes harmful stereotypes. Transgender people deserve the same dignity, respect, and access as anyone else. Denying Ms. McBride and others the ability to use facilities matching their gender expression perpetuates stigma and marginalization. This issue extends far beyond restroom usage – it strikes at the core of equal rights and inclusive policies that our government should uphold. Targeting one member of Congress in this manner sets a dangerous precedent of intolerance. I urge you to reject this resolution and any efforts that undermine the civil rights and well-being of the transgender community. We must create an environment of understanding, not ostracization.
