Protect Scientific Independence From Political Interference

To: Sen. Moran, Sen. Marshall, Rep. Davids

From: A verified voter in Gardner, KS

June 13

Science policy decisions in this country are increasingly being driven by political convenience rather than evidence, and that has to stop. I'm asking you to take a clear public stand against political interference in scientific research, funding, and findings — and to oppose any legislation or executive action that subordinates scientific conclusions to partisan agendas. When politicians override researchers on questions of fact, the consequences are real. Public health suffers. Environmental protections erode. Communities lose access to accurate information they need to make decisions. Science doesn't change its conclusions based on who's in power, and government policy shouldn't either. Agencies like the CDC, EPA, and NIH must be free to publish and act on their findings without political pressure from above. Your constituents are watching how you handle this. Stand up for independent science funding, protect researchers from political retaliation, and refuse to support any measure that lets ideology override evidence. This isn't a partisan issue — it's a question of whether we govern based on reality.
