I'm reaching out as a constituent to express my concern regarding the Farm Bill and its potential impact on state and local agricultural laws. It seems that provisions like the Save Our Bacon Act could really undermine the authority of states to set their own policies. For example, California's Proposition 12 was supported by voters, and I worry that a federal bill could nullify such decisions made by the people.
It's clear that Congress shouldn’t override laws that reflect the will of the voters. If this continues, it might set a troubling precedent where powerful agricultural interests can erase local priorities. I believe that local governments should have the right to establish standards that are in line with their community values.
As the Senate deliberates, I urge you to reject any Farm Bill that includes these provisions and to voice your opposition publicly. This issue truly matters to many residents.
