This proposed national autism registry raises significant privacy and civil rights concerns. Obtaining and compiling Americans' private medical records without consent represents a clear violation of HIPAA laws designed to protect patient confidentiality. Moreover, such a database could enable discrimination against individuals on the basis of disability, contravening the protections enshrined in the Americans with Disabilities Act. We must uphold robust privacy safeguards and prevent the misuse of sensitive health data that could undermine the rights of those on the autism spectrum and other vulnerable populations. I urge you to oppose any efforts to create this unconstitutional registry that threatens to erode hard-won civil liberties. Yet again, I implore you to stand up to this administration and be on the right side of history.
