I am writing as your constituent to make my position on the upcoming DHS funding vote unequivocally clear.
ICE must be defunded and abolished.
With the February 13 deadline approaching, I am aware of ongoing negotiations around accountability measures including independent oversight, body camera requirements, warrant standards, and agent identification protocols.
These measures will not address the fundamental problem. In January alone, ICE was responsible for eight deaths: six immigrants in custody and two U.S. citizens killed by federal agents. This agency detains asylum-seeking children, deploys chemical weapons against peaceful demonstrators, and operates beyond constitutional limits.
The data is clear: a plurality of Americans (46%) now support abolishing ICE, with that number rising to 70% among those under 30. The American people understand what the evidence shows—this agency cannot be salvaged through reform.
I expect each of you to vote NO on any DHS funding legislation when it comes before Congress on February 13.
Defund ICE. Abolish ICE.
