Please fund the California State University! Now is not the time to reduce the budget of our signature university system by almost 8%, especially when we are facing cuts in federal funding. The situation at my University, California State University East Bay, is dire. Courses are being cut year after year, and we are looking at layoffs and program reductions. We have already frozen hiring. Our building is freezing because they literally will not turn the heat on to save money. As chair of my department, I was told to NOT ADMIT over 30 administrative credential students because we didn’t have the money to pay the faculty to teach them. We are in danger of not serving our communities in critical ways! Please help us. Our university is making needed cuts toward efficiency, but we can only cut so much and the bone is showing!
