Restore Crucial NEA Funding, Protect Our Arts Programs

To: Sen. Menjivar, Asm. Schultz, Gov. Newsom

From: A constituent in Burbank, CA

May 9

<message> The Trump administration's decision to cancel National Endowment for the Arts grants for organizations like UCLA's Center for the Art of Performance, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and South Coast Repertory is deeply concerning. These groups have already spent the recommended grant funding on vital arts programming that enriches our communities and positively develops young minds. Rescinding this support mid-cycle is disruptive and threatens the financial viability of esteemed cultural institutions. The arts play a crucial role in shaping our national identity, fostering creativity, and bringing people together through shared experiences. Cutting NEA funding undermines this essential work and the livelihoods of countless artists and arts workers. I urge you to strongly oppose any proposed reductions to the NEA budget and appeal the cancellation of grants already awarded. The arts uplift us all and deserve robust federal backing. </message>
