​I am writing as your constituent to demand you use the filibuster to block the nomination of Todd Blanche as Attorney General. His record demonstrates a profound lack of ethics and a systemic degradation of the Department of Justice. ​As Senator Sheldon Whitehouse recently outlined, Blanche’s transgressions should immediately disqualify him. Under Blanche’s purview, the DOJ grossly mishandled the Epstein files, inexcusably exposing the identities, addresses, and sensitive photographs of victims. ​Furthermore, the DOJ suppressed evidence by hiding critical FBI witness statements from an Epstein victim regarding assault allegations against Donald Trump. The department also completely ignored Suspicious Activity Reports explicitly linked to money laundering and human trafficking. ​Blanche also traveled to interview Ghislaine Maxwell to secure exculpatory statements regarding Donald Trump. Shortly after, she was inexplicably transferred to a lower-security prison under the illogical pretense of keeping her safe. ​Additionally, Blanche is facing a federal court inquiry for "fraud upon the court" regarding a slush fund and tax amnesty scheme. As Senator Whitehouse noted, this is a "thermonuclear ethics accusation" unprecedented for a senior DOJ official. ​Finally, federal judges nationwide have severely chastised Blanche's DOJ for bad faith and disingenuous arguments. This systemic dishonesty has stripped the department of its foundational "presumption of regularity" within the courts. ​A nominee who compromises victim safety, suppresses evidence, and destroys the ethical standing of our justice system is unfit to serve. I urge you to use every procedural tool, including the filibuster, to stop his confirmation. I expect a public response regarding your stance on this issue.
