Our Afghan allies served alongside U.S. military as interpreters and former members of the Afghan Special Operations forces.
The plan now seems to be sending more than 1,100 Afghans, including interpreters, special operations partners, and over 400 children, to the Democratic Republic of the Congo after their pathway to the United States was effectively shut down. WHAT???
These are individuals whom the U.S. government brought to safety, many now stranded for over a year in Qatar with the understanding that they would have a path forward in the United States.
Now we give them the HORRIBLE CHOICE - return to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan or relocate to a country already facing one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises.
This is not a serious solution. It is an abdication of responsibility!!!
Many of these Afghans supported U.S. forces directly and were promised protection. The current trajectory not only breaks faith with them; it undermines America’s credibility with partners around the world who take risks alongside us.
YOU SHOULD KNOW:
• These allies were vetted, many multiple times.
• They were relocated under U.S. authority.
• They remain in limbo because policy decisions closed the door on their resettlement.
But moments like this require more than process. They require moral clarity.
We stood with our allies. Now we need to act like it.
WHAT DO YOU INTEND TO DO? THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACEPPTABLE AND I WANT AN ANSWER!
NOW!!
