I am deeply concerned about the nomination of Russell T. Vought to lead the White House Office of Management and Budget. Vought has been the driving force behind President Trump's ultraconservative "Project 2025" agenda that seeks to dismantle and defund vital government programs and services. As an architect of this radical effort to undermine the federal government's role, Vought's confirmation would enable further attacks on programs that millions of Americans rely on. It is alarming that Vought has repeatedly worked to circumvent Congressional oversight and authority in pursuit of this extreme agenda. Confirming him would place someone overtly hostile to principles of checks and balances in a powerful position overseeing the administration's budget priorities and policies. I cannot allow such an ideologue to wield that level of influence over programs that are critical to our constituents' wellbeing. I urge you to reject Russell T. Vought's nomination and uphold your Constitutional duty to serve as a check on the executive branch's overreach. Confirming Vought would represent an unacceptable erosion of Congressional powers and a threat to programs that provide essential services to the American people. We must draw a line and demand a nominee committed to working within our democratic system of government.
