It's Memorial Day today. If we only believe in freedom for our own white citizens, our own police force, our own upper class, we have abandoned the sacrifices made in the wars against fascism. If we only care about the economy, but not enough to tax the 1% appropriately for their responsible citizenship, we have lost the point. If we only give a damn when it's white people dying, our roots are exposed as rotten to the core. Palestinians have every right to live, to exist, as a people, as a state, and this US stranglehold on the UN is unconscionable. What weak excuses we make to look the other way during a genocide, to make of Palestinian statehood a human shield against the starvation of the world? In continuing this obstinate refusal to recognize the full humanity of the victims of our war crimes, we are worse than Hamas. We are disgracing the ones today is set aside to memorialize.
