An Open Letter

To: Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray, Rep. Smith

From: A constituent in Kent, WA

February 8

Nothing Has Changed in Minneapolis ICE is still treating the population of the city like a conquered population of a hostile foreign power, still abducting people without cause, warrant, or charges, still employing deadly force and chemical weapons without warning or accountability. Bovino's sacking, Homan's so-called 'tone-softening,' these have all been empty gestures that have changed nothing. The only acceptable resolution is that ICE and DHS leave the twin cities entirely, and that the all federal agencies cooperate fully with the prosecution of any agents accused of abuse of power, excessive force, racial profiling, or any other violation of the civil liberties of the people of Minneapolis. Ultimately, ICE must be abolished entirely. The agency has violated public trust too openly, and too deeply, to be reformed. But for now they need to be driven out of Minnesota entirely.
