I write to you today with deep concern about the state of our economy and the perversion of capitalism that has taken hold in the United States. The principles of free markets, competition, and individual opportunity, as outlined in Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations, have been abandoned in favor of an anti-American system of corporate feudalism, where a handful of powerful entities control markets, suppress innovation, and exploit workers while stifling economic mobility for millions. Adam Smith envisioned a system where competition and the “invisible hand” of the market would drive efficiency, innovation, and fair pricing. Instead, we now have: 1. Corporate Monopolies Controlling Entire Industries 2. Government-Backed Crony Capitalism 3. The Destruction of the American Worker 4. The Decline of Small Business and Entrepreneurship 5. Financialization Over Innovation If we are to reclaim the true spirit of capitalism, we must implement policies that: 1. Break Up Corporate Monopolies – Enforce antitrust laws to restore competition and prevent industry consolidation that stifles innovation. 2. End Corporate Welfare – No more subsidies or bailouts for multinational corporations that exploit American workers. 3. Protect Small Businesses – Reduce regulatory burdens on small enterprises while ensuring large corporations do not receive unfair advantages. 4. Strengthen Labor Markets – Enact policies that support wage growth, worker protections, and collective bargaining to prevent corporate exploitation. 5. Encourage Domestic Innovation – Invest in research, development, and infrastructure to drive true economic expansion rather than financial speculation. 6. Restore Accountability – Implement campaign finance reform to end the corporate capture of our government. The United States became the world’s economic superpower by embracing the principles of free enterprise, competition, and innovation. If we continue down the road of corporate feudalism, where a few powerful entities hoard wealth and dictate economic policy, we will no longer be the land of opportunity that Adam Smith’s vision inspired. I urge you to stand for true capitalism, fight against corporate monopolies, and support policies that empower small businesses and workers. America must once again become a land of economic freedom—not a corporate fiefdom where the rich dictate the future of the working class.
