Please do everything you can to resist the unconstitutional budget acts of the Trump executive branch. I am deeply concerned that we are slipping rapidly into an authoritarian regime, with no balance of power. Congress should always retain the power of the purse. If lawmakers need to "lobby" the secretaries of government agencies to release funding, we will become a one party system. This is likely what they hope for. This must not happen; it will decimate California, because they will do everything they can to keep money from us, while we pay more than most into federal taxes. Our state is one of the biggest economies in the world, and we must use that power in every possible way to resist this unconstitutional power grab. Speak out, educate your constituents, and most importantly talk to your Republican colleagues. You are our hope, standing in the way of a true loss of democracy. Congress alone should have the power of the purse.
