As your constituent, I urge you to oppose Section 224 of the FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act.
My concern is not with cooperation between allies, but with policies that further entangle the United States in the military, technological, and strategic decisions of any foreign nation. Section 224 would expand and formalize U.S.-Israel defense technology and industrial integration, creating deeper institutional ties that could be difficult to unwind in the future.
I believe the United States should maintain the ability to make independent foreign policy decisions based on American interests and the will of the American people. The more tightly defense industries, technologies, research programs, and strategic planning become interconnected, the greater the risk that future policymakers will face pressure to support actions or commitments that Congress and the public never explicitly approved.
Major shifts in long-term foreign policy should be debated openly and voted on directly, not embedded within broader defense legislation. For that reason, I oppose Section 224 and ask that you vote against it or support its removal from the final NDAA.
Thank you for your consideration and for your service to our district and country.
