Demand Explanation for Closing Apache Helicopter Investigation

To: Sen. Gallego, Sen. Kelly, Rep. Crane

From: A constituent in Kearny, AZ

April 3

Secretary Hegseth must explain why he shut down the Army Regulation 15-6 investigation into the March 28 Apache helicopter incident near Kid Rock's Tennessee property. His March 31 post declaring "No punishment. No investigation. Carry on, patriots" contradicts the Army's own stated commitment to enforcing standards and holding personnel accountable for unauthorized or unsafe flight operations. The Army suspended the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade air crew and launched a formal investigation to examine potential violations of FAA regulations, aviation safety protocol, and approval requirements. Maj. Montrell Russell emphasized the Army "takes any allegations of unauthorized or unsafe flight operations very seriously." That investigation should have been completed, not canceled by political interference. Military aircraft are funded through Department of Defense budgets for training purposes, not to provide flyovers for celebrities. Whether the flight was coincidental or not, the viral video Kid Rock posted showed helicopters hovering over his property while he saluted poolside. That spectacle demands answers about mission authorization and compliance with regulations. Closing this investigation without findings sets a dangerous precedent. The public deserves to know whether protocols were followed and whether taxpayer-funded military assets were misused. Reopen the investigation and release its findings.
