No Recissions Act

To: Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Perry, Sen. McCormick

From: A constituent in Mechanicsburg, PA

July 9

I am writing to urge the congressman to vote 'NO' on the Recissions Act, or at the very least ensure that the bill is not passed by July 18th so that the funding can be returned. That money was already promised to important public services, like NPR and PBS. I get a say in what my tax dollars go toward, and I believe that the public deserves to be informed about events and news that directly affects them. Public broadcasting is essential to the safety and education of everyone. The tradegy that is ongoing in Texas was easily avoidable, but because of the gutting of NOAA and the National Weather Service earlier this year, vital safety information was not disseminated to the public in time to save hundreds of people- many of them in this case children. We will continue to see losses like this until we restore them. Asking for further cuts to public information and education is going to be far more expensive in the long run.You cannot cut more money from federal programs that are for public good without drenching your hands in blood. Please protect public media. Thank you.
