I’m writing to express deep concern over recent developments that threaten both our democracy and the future of our children.
Attacks on a Free Press
The White House has restructured the press room to marginalize major national outlets, limiting their access and ability to question leadership. Press passes have been revoked, and briefings increasingly exclude critical voices. At the same time, respected, fact-checked journalism is being publicly targeted and labeled “fake” or “enemy of the people.” These attacks undermine the First Amendment and weaken the public’s access to truth.
Education and Disability Funding in Crisis
Efforts to dismantle the Department of Education—especially shifting special education oversight to other agencies—put millions of students at risk. Massive funding cuts, including nearly $900 million in slashed programs, and a push toward private vouchers threaten the stability of public education. Students with disabilities are particularly vulnerable in this political crossfire.
This is a moment that calls for leadership. I urge you to:
• Defend press freedom and reject any efforts to restrict access or silence fact-based reporting.
• Oppose dismantling the Department of Education and restore essential funding for public schools and special education.
We cannot allow these foundational pillars—truth and education—to be eroded. Please act now.
