The repeated bombing and siege of Gaza by Israeli forces, enabled by American military aid, has caused immense civilian suffering and loss of life. As Americans committed to human rights and the equal dignity of all peoples, we must insist on an immediate ceasefire and negotiated settlement to end this cycle of violence. Continuing to fund one side while denying the humanity of the other will only breed more resentment and conflict. We call on our government to use its influence to protect innocent Palestinian and Israeli civilians alike, and work towards a just and lasting peace. Failing to elevate Palestinian voices at a major political convention is unacceptable and perpetuates their marginalization. We urge principled American leadership dedicated to conflict resolution and the human rights of all people in the region.
