Congress must act to uphold Constitution, defend democracy

The federal government derives its legitimacy and authority from the Constitution and the will of the American people expressed through free and fair elections. Recent actions undertaken by the executive branch, including Donald Trump's empowerment of Elon Musk and his unelected associates, threaten to undermine these foundational tenets of our democracy. As members of Congress sworn to uphold the Constitution, you have a solemn duty to check such abuses of power through rigorous oversight and judicious use of investigative and impeachment authorities. The nation's legislative branch must serve as a bulwark against any efforts to subvert the rule of law and consolidate control in the hands of a privileged few like Musk. Failure to decisively respond risks rendering Congress an ineffectual bystander in the systematic dismantling of our cherished system of self-governance. Impeachment proceedings against officials who have exceeded their lawful mandates and obstructed Congressional inquiries are imperative to reassert the system of checks and balances. You must act with courage and principle to preserve the democracy that has been this nation's greatest legacy for over two centuries.
