Credible evidence of war crimes Russia has been committing in Ukraine for four and a half years was not sufficient for Mr Trump to correctly identify Putin as the aggressor nor for him to call on Russia to end its war of aggression. Today, Mr Trump says that Russia has lost control of its diesel industry, he has called the war “ridiculous and never ending,” and predictably, he has laid the blame for this state of affairs squarely at the feet—-not of the authoritarian leader who invaded Ukraine and seeks to seize its territory through force—-but of President Zelenskyy, who has not capitulated to Putin’s unjustifiable, illegitimate, and immoral war of aggression against his country. Mr Trump’s blind insistence that Putin is victimized when Zelenskyy’s warfighters bring a fraction of the battles Ukraine must fight against Russian invaders home to Russia is either pathological loyalty to a foreign power or an insurmountable mental defect. Either one is disqualifying
