“I am your constituent and I want you to know that we have a serious healthcare issue in this country. A recent study by the Kaiser Family Foundation of publicly available data regarding hospitalizations and gunshot victims in Florida has highlighted a serious discrepancy. If you have no health insurance you are ushered out the door of the hospital up to twice as fast as those who have insurance. This was not a one off data point - the sample set includes 20,000 gunshot victims in that state and over 20 hospitals. The results were nearly identical at every hospital public or private.
If you are a victim and poor and unable to pay for health insurance, your life means little. I am pretty sure that’s not the kind of country any of us want. If we are the victims of an accident or a crime we all deserve to receive the best possible treatment to heal - not be ushered out the door because we don’t have enough insurance or the right insurance or any insurance.
Well good news, you can implement Universal Healthcare for all of us and fix this despicable situation and save our country nearly a trillion dollars every year. What’s stopping you - get Universal Healthcare, like HR 3069 to a vote. I will watch your actions, listen to your words and I promise you I will act accordingly.”
