Federal Agent Accountability when Murdering U.S. Citizens/
To: Sen. Moreno, Rep. Joyce, Sen. Husted
From: A constituent in Youngstown, OH
January 16
I am writing to express my deep concern, and that of many Americans, regarding the recent fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 7, 2026. This incident has sparked national outrage and widespread protest, as well as serious questions about the use of lethal force by federal agents. Multiple videos have circulated publicly showing various angles of the encounter. A video recorded on Agent Ross’s own cellphone provides one perspective of the moments leading up to the shooting, but does not resolve critical questions about whether the use of deadly force was justified or how the event unfolded in its entirety. Other footage, including bystander and surveillance views, offers conflicting visual information about the position of the vehicle and agent at the moment shots were fired. Meanwhile, questions remain about whether additional body-worn camera footage exists and what evidentiary value it would provide. At the core of this tragedy—and of our constitutional system—is the principle that federal law enforcement must be accountable to the people they serve. Transparency is not optional when an American citizen is killed during a federal enforcement action. It is essential to ensure public trust in the rule of law and to uphold the obligations of federal agencies to act within the bounds of law, policy, and respect for human life. Accordingly, I respectfully request that you and your colleagues in Congress: Issue an immediate formal request for the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to release all unredacted footage related to the January 7 incident, including but not limited to body-worn camera recordings, vehicle camera footage, cellphone videos held by agents, and any surveillance footage in the area. Hold prompt hearings on the circumstances of the fatal shooting, including testimony from law enforcement leadership, independent use-of-force experts, civil rights advocates, and the family of Renee Good. Ensure an independent oversight review of ICE use-of-force policies and practices, and clarify what accountability mechanisms are in place when federal agents are involved in civilian deaths. The American people deserve a complete and transparent accounting of what occurred. With multiple recordings circulating and conflicting narratives emerging, Congress must act to ensure that all relevant evidence is disclosed, thoroughly examined, and made available to the public. This is critical not only in this case, but in reinforcing constitutional governance and civilian oversight of federal law enforcement. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your leadership in demanding transparency and accountability. P.S. - Kick the DOJ's ass into releasing the Epstein files, you Pedo Protectors.
