President Trump campaigned in NC with a promise to help the people of Western NC devastated from Hurricane Helene. As the President loves to do, he made a point of criticizing the previous administration on their response to the tragedy and the efforts made. Now that he’s President it’s a different story, which is also very typical of Trump’s administration. FEMA has denied Gov. Stein’s request to continue with full support. The devastation from Helene was enormous - over $59B in losses. FEMA’s denial will now shift expenses to state and local budgets to absorb. And where is the President in all of this? On some golf course, I’m sure, or callously wishing people a “Happy Memorial Day”. What a disgrace! This is the cost of empty promises and lies to the American people. The good people of Western NC deserve better!
