I am deeply concerned by your vote to support taxpayer-funded payments for individuals who lawlessly attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.
As a taxpayer, I find it unacceptable that my hard-earned money — and the money of millions of working Americans — could be handed to people who assaulted police officers, damaged our Capitol, and tried to overturn the democratic process.
It is especially troubling to hear elected officials claim that immigration is the primary driver of crime while supporting financial relief for people who violently attacked law enforcement officers doing their jobs and protecting members of Congress.
Your vote gives the appearance that loyalty to this administration matters more than accountability, public safety, or respect for the rule of law.
At 51 years old, I am embarrassed by what our country has become. This kind of decision only further damages America’s credibility and makes us look like a laughingstock to the rest of the world.
I strongly urge you to reconsider this position and stand with taxpayers, law enforcement, and the basic principle that those who attack our democracy should face consequences — not receive rewards.
