As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to support bringing a War Powers Resolution to a vote now that the ceasefire has collapsed and military action continues without congressional authorization.
Regardless of party, senators have a constitutional obligation to authorize military conflicts. This war was initiated by Republican leadership without proper congressional approval, and the American people are bearing the consequences:
• Gas prices are climbing daily
• Grocery costs continue to surge
• Companies like Spirit Airlines are facing bankruptcy
• Working families are stretched thinner every week
I understand party loyalty, but constitutional responsibility must come first. The Senate's do-nothing approach to war powers is allowing economic damage to mount while avoiding accountability. Every day without congressional action is another day of harm to everyday Americans.
I urge you to:
• Support a War Powers Resolution coming to the floor
• Vote to reassert Congress's constitutional authority over military action
• Acknowledge the economic toll this conflict is taking on your constituents
The American people elected you to provide oversight and exercise constitutional judgment - not to provide blank checks for unauthorized military action. Please demonstrate that the Constitution and your constituents matter more than party politics.
