Block Trump’s Unauthorized Military Operation in Venezuela
To: Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray
From: A constituent in Clinton, WA
December 22
I am writing to respectfully urge you to support the War Powers Resolutions currently before Congress regarding the ongoing situation in Venezuela. I am deeply concerned by the escalating military actions taken by the executive branch without the necessary authorization from Congress.
Recent actions, including unauthorized strikes against vessels and the seizure of an oil tanker, demonstrate a concerning expansion of executive power and a disregard for the constitutional balance between the executive and legislative branches. These actions risk escalating tensions and could lead to an unwarranted military intervention.
As your constituent, I believe that engaging in protracted conflicts without Congressional approval is not in the best interest of the nation. Many in our community share my apprehension regarding the potential for a prolonged military engagement in Venezuela.
Therefore, I respectfully request that you vote in favor of the War Powers Resolutions, ensuring that Congress reasserts its constitutional authority over matters of war and peace. I trust you will act in the best interest of our state and country by safeguarding our democracy and preventing an unnecessary escalation of conflict.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
